Terminal Block 39340

$1.99

Genuine OEM terminal block (part# 39340) for the Tornado CK 14/2 Pro, model 98152, and the Powr-Flite Borelli Dual Pro. Call 763-535-0770.

The Terminal Block (part# 39340) is the junction where the power cord meets the machine’s internal wiring on the Tornado CK 14/2 Pro, model 98152, and the Powr-Flite Borelli Dual Pro (PV160-W14-U).

This part exists because the 14/2 carries two motors. A single-motor upright can run its supply almost straight to one switch; a dual-motor machine has to split the feed, route it through separate switching and protection for the suction motor and the brush motor, and bring it all back to one cord entry. The terminal block is where that happens, which is why it appears on this breakdown and not on the single-motor 14/1.

What goes wrong

Terminal blocks fail from heat, and heat comes from a loose screw. A connection that is not fully clamped has resistance, resistance makes heat, and heat relaxes the plastic around the screw so the connection loosens further. It is a one-way process. The signs are browning or blistering of the block around one terminal, a smell of hot plastic, and sometimes an intermittent fault that moves when the machine is jolted.

Replace the block rather than re-tightening a discoloured one. Once the plastic around a terminal has been heat-damaged it will not hold torque again, and the conductor that was in it should be inspected too — if the copper is darkened, cut it back to bright metal before re-terminating.

Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Call 763-535-0770 with your model and serial number and we will confirm the part before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which machines does this terminal block fit?

The Tornado CK 14/2 Pro, model 98152, and the Powr-Flite Borelli Dual Pro (PV160-W14-U). The two are built on the same platform under different brands.

Why does the 14/1 not use this part?

Because it has one motor. The 14/2 has to split its supply between a suction motor and a brush motor, each with its own switching and protection, and the terminal block is where that split is made.

Can I just retighten a discoloured block?

No. Browning means it has been running hot, and heat-damaged plastic will not hold torque again. Replace the block, and cut the conductor back to bright copper if it has darkened.
