What the Axle does

The stud is pressed or fixed into the rear housing and carries the whole weight the wheel takes. It has to stay straight and stay smooth: a scored or bent stud gives a wheel that binds no matter how new the wheel is. Spin the wheel by hand and check it runs true before the machine goes back down.
