Choosing the right Tornado Strike parts
The Strike TV190-W10-U is a dual-motor cordless upright: one motor generates suction and a second, separate motor drives the brush roll. That matters when you are diagnosing, because the two failure paths are independent — a Strike can lose brush agitation while suction is perfect, or the reverse, and the part you need is completely different in each case. Nothing on this machine is shared with Tornado’s corded uprights; its relatives are the Tempest and the Zephyr.
The factory breaks the machine into four assemblies, and the quickest way to find a part is to work out which one it belongs to. The back part carries the filtration, the suction motor and its acoustic foams, the battery bay and contacts, the control electronics and wiring, and the rear wheels. The top handle carries the handle sections and their controls, the wand and hose, the on-board tools, and the battery and charger. The brush head carries the brush motor, its housing, the belt and the brush lifting assembly. The sole, base and magnet group carries the brushroll, glide sole, scraper, wheels and the position magnet.
Two cautions specific to this model. First, part numbers here all begin with K and several look almost identical — three different screws, two different nuts and nine separately numbered motor foams — so match a fastener on the diagram rather than by eye. Second, a few parts appear on more than one sheet at different callout numbers, which is why our listings never quote an item number: the number lives only in the parts table on each section page.
If the machine will not power up at all, work outward from the battery before spending on electronics: the contact block, then the battery cable set, then the motor cable set. Those three account for most faults that present as a dead machine and together they cost a fraction of a control board.
Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956 from 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428. Call 763-535-0770 and we will identify a part from the diagram with you. Frequently Asked Questions about Tornado Strike parts
Which Tornado Strike parts wear out first?
The brush roll, its belt and the glide sole go first, because they are the parts actually touching the floor. Fleece bags and the HEPA cartridge are consumables and account for most repeat orders. The motherboard and the parking position sensor are the expensive items, and both are blamed far more often than they are genuinely at fault.
Is the Strike the same machine as the Tornado Tempest or Zephyr?
No, but they are close relatives. The Strike, Tempest and Zephyr are built on the same cordless platform under different names and share the great majority of their parts — the 36V battery, the quick-charger, the suction motor and much of the battery-bay hardware are common. Where a part is shared, the listing says so and names every machine it fits.
My Strike’s brush will not turn but suction is fine. Where do I start?
With the parking position sensor and its wiring, not the motherboard. The control board only drives the brush motor when the sensor reports the machine is reclined for use, so a failed sensor, a chafed sensor cable or a damaged magnet in the base all produce exactly this symptom, at a small fraction of the cost of a board.
What battery and charger does the Strike use?
The 36V 7.5Ah lithium-ion pack (part# K24450750) and the 36V quick-charger (part# K24450530), both of which also fit the Tempest and the Zephyr. Lithium batteries ship under special handling rules, so call 763-535-0770 before ordering a pack and we will confirm what shipping to your address involves.
Can you help me find a Strike part that is not listed?
Yes. These pages cover every part on the factory diagrams for this model, but a handful of small items are not carried in the manufacturer’s dealer catalogue and show as call-for-price. Call 763-535-0770 with your model and serial number and we will identify the part and confirm price and availability rather than guessing.
