This is the grip on the Tornado Tempest bungee strap. Tacony’s dealer record names it Grip, Bungee Strap; the parts book prints the same number against Handle. Two are fitted, one on each strap.

What the Bungee Strap Grip Does

The grip is what the operator actually pulls on to release and refit the strap, several times a day on a machine whose filter is serviced regularly. It exists so that the strap can be tensioned without anyone hooking a finger under elastic under load, which is how people get hurt on machines like this.

When to Replace It

Replace a grip that has cracked, split, or come loose on the strap. It is a small part but worth replacing promptly: once the grip has gone, the natural thing is to pull on the elastic itself, which both shortens the strap’s life and risks it letting go under tension.

Fitting Notes

Fit the grip to the strap before hooking the strap up, and check it is secure by pulling on it before you rely on it. If a grip keeps working loose, the strap end has probably stretched and the strap is due for replacement.
