This second pump view exists to show one fitting clearly: the nylon quick-disconnect connector 32186, a female 3/8 in. tube to 1/4 in. thread connector, at callout 7. The two pump drawings for the Tornado 98167 share one run of callout numbers from 1 to 11, and callout 7 is the only one that lands on this sheet — the other ten are on pump assembly view 1. Connector 32186 is used in several places on this machine: it also appears on the brush assembly feeding the spraybar manifold 32187, and on chassis part 1 at the pump 32227 itself. Because it is a quick-disconnect, it is a common source of a slow solution drip: the O-ring inside the body hardens with age and detergent exposure, and the connector starts weeping at the joint rather than failing outright. If you are chasing a damp patch under the machine that is not coming from the tank, this fitting and its matching elbow 32189 are worth checking before anything else. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Call 763-535-0770 or stop by 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428.

Tornado 98167 Pump Assembly Parts – Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a second pump diagram with only one part on it?
The Tornado parts book draws the pump area from two angles so that every fitting is visible from at least one of them. The two views share a single run of callout numbers 1 through 11, and callout 7 — the nylon connector 32186 — is the only one that reads clearly on this second view. The other ten callouts are listed on pump assembly view 1.
What does the nylon connector 32186 do?
It is a quick-disconnect coupling, female 3/8 in. tube to 1/4 in. thread, used to join a solution line to a threaded port without tools. On the Tornado 98167 it appears at the pump, in the brush housing feeding the spraybar manifold 32187, and here on the second pump view, which is why you may need more than one.
I have a slow solution leak under my Tornado 98167 — could it be this fitting?
It often is. Quick-disconnect bodies like 32186 weep at the seal long before they fail completely, so you get a damp patch or a drip rather than a spray. Dry the area, run the machine, and look for the first place water appears. Also check the swivel elbow 32189 and the union tee 32182, which fail the same way.
How many of connector 32186 does the Tornado 98167 use?
It is called out three times across the parts book for this machine — once here at callout 7, once on the brush assembly sheet and once on chassis assembly part 1. They are all the same part number, so if you are rebuilding the solution circuit it is sensible to order more than one.
How do I order Tornado 98167 pump assembly parts or get help identifying one?
You can add any part on this page directly to your cart from its own product page, or call us at 763-535-0770. Our staff at 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428 has been servicing Tornado equipment since 1956 and can confirm the right part against your machine’s serial number before you buy.
The pump, solenoid valve, hoses and remaining fittings are all on pump assembly view 1. Connector 32186 also appears on the brush assembly and chassis assembly part 1 pages, and the inline strainer that protects the whole solution circuit is on the Tornado 98167 service parts page. Tornado publishes machine documentation at tornadovac.com.
