Hose 3/8" O.D. x 7-1/2" – 32193This is the solution side of the Tornado 98167 — everything between the tank and the spray nozzles. The 100 P.S.I. 230-volt pump 32227 draws from the solution tank and pushes through the solenoid valve 32228, a 1/4 in. port 230-volt valve that opens only while the spray button is held, so the pump is not dead-heading against a closed line the whole time the machine runs. Flow is routed with nylon fittings: the 3/8 in. male to 1/4 in. MPT quick disconnect 32181, the 3/8 in. union tee 32182 and the nylon elbow 32183. Three hoses carry it: the 36 in. hose 32192, the 7-1/2 in. hose 32193 and the 22 in. hose 32317, each cut to a specific run so it is worth noting which one you are replacing before it comes off. The connector assembly with wires 32207 supplies the solenoid, and washer 11219 sets the pump mounting. Note that this machine takes the 230-volt pump and 230-volt solenoid; the 120-volt equivalents will not run on it. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Tornado 98167 Pump Assembly Parts – Frequently Asked Questions
What does the pump assembly do on the Tornado 98167?
The 100 P.S.I. pump 32227 pressurises cleaning solution from the tank and sends it through the solenoid valve 32228 and the nylon fittings and hoses on this page to the three spray nozzles in the brush housing. The solenoid opens only while you hold the spray button, so solution is delivered on demand rather than continuously.
My Tornado 98167 runs but will not spray — is it the pump or the solenoid?
Listen at the pump while the spray button is held. If the pump 32227 does not run at all, suspect its supply — the control module and harness on the control panel page — or the pump itself. If the pump runs but no solution reaches the carpet, suspect the solenoid valve 32228, the connector assembly 32207 that feeds it, a blocked inline strainer 32178, or blocked 95° nozzles X9139 on the brush assembly page.
Why does this diagram skip callout 7?
Because callout 7 belongs to the second pump view. The two pump drawings for the Tornado 98167 share a single run of callout numbers 1 through 11, and the nylon connector 32186 at callout 7 is listed on pump assembly view 2. Nothing has been left out of this page — the missing number is simply on the other sheet.
Can I fit a 120-volt pump to the Tornado 98167?
No. The 98167 is the 230-volt Marathon 800, so it takes the 230-volt pump 32227 and the 230-volt solenoid valve 32228. The 120-volt versions used on other machines in the range look similar but will not operate correctly here. If you are not certain which version your machine has, call us with the serial number before ordering.
How do I order Tornado 98167 pump assembly parts or get help identifying one?
You can add any part on this page directly to your cart from its own product page, or call us at 763-535-0770. Our staff at 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428 has been servicing Tornado equipment since 1956 and can confirm the right part against your machine’s serial number before you buy.
The remaining pump fitting is on pump assembly view 2, and the pump mounting and motor protection sponge are listed on chassis assembly part 1. Solution reaches the carpet through the spraybar and nozzles on the brush assembly page, and the strainer and filters that need regular cleaning are on the Tornado 98167 service parts page. Tornado publishes machine documentation at tornadovac.com.
