This is the driven pulley on the brush shaft — the one the timing belt turns. It is supplied complete with its #10-32 set screw, which is the part most often lost and the part that decides whether the pulley stays where it belongs. Part number 19161 is the genuine OEM brush pulley.

Almost every pulley failure on this machine starts with a loose set screw. The pulley creeps on the shaft, the screw point hammers a flat into the shaft surface, and once that flat is there the screw can never grip properly again. The pulley then slips under load, the belt timing goes, and the symptom presented is a brush that stops turning when the machine is pushed into thick carpet.
Check it before you buy anything: with the belt off, try to turn the pulley on the shaft by hand. It should not move at all. If it does, look at the shaft under the set screw as well as at the pulley — a wallowed shaft means the shaft needs replacing too, and fitting a new pulley alone will reproduce the fault within weeks.
The teeth are the other wear point. A timing pulley with rounded tooth crests no longer holds the belt positively, and it will strip belts no matter how new they are. Compare the tooth profile against the drive pulley at the other end — if one is visibly more rounded than the other, that is the one that has been doing the slipping.
Alignment is what kills both. A belt that is not running square walks to one side and wears one flange of each pulley, so check the two pulley faces with a straight edge before refitting anything. Misalignment usually comes from the motor base or the brush plate rather than from the pulleys themselves.
Fit with the shaft clean, the set screw seated on its flat rather than on a round surface, and tightened firmly but not beyond — #10-32 is a fine thread in a small size and it strips easily. Turn the drive by hand and check the belt sits square in the teeth before running it.

My brush stops turning in thick carpet — is the pulley slipping?
Very likely, and it usually starts with a loose set screw. The pulley creeps, the screw point hammers a flat into the shaft, and after that it can never grip properly. With the belt off, try to turn the pulley on the shaft by hand: it should not move at all.
Do I need to replace the shaft as well?
Check it. If the set screw has been loose long enough to wallow the shaft under it, a new pulley alone will work loose again within weeks. Look at the shaft surface under the screw, not just at the pulley bore, before deciding.
