Brush Motor 39338

$85.99

Genuine OEM brush motor (part# 39338) for the Tornado CK 14/2 Pro, model 98152, and the Powr-Flite Borelli Dual Pro. Call 763-535-0770.

The Brush Motor (part# 39338) is the dedicated motor that drives the brush roll on the Tornado CK 14/2 Pro, model 98152, and on the Powr-Flite Borelli Dual Pro (PV160-W14-U). It is the part that makes this machine a 14/2 rather than a 14/1.

A single-motor upright takes a belt off the suction motor shaft, which means brush speed and suction are tied together and both suffer when either is loaded. A dedicated brush motor decouples them: the agitator keeps its speed in deep pile where a belt-driven brush would be dragging, and the suction motor is left to move air. That is the whole argument for the dual-motor layout, and it is why this part has no equivalent on the single-motor machines.

Before replacing it

A brush that has stopped turning is not automatically a dead motor. Work through the cheap causes first, because three of them are far more common. Check the poly-V belt (B350-2514) — a stretched or snapped belt is the usual answer. Check the circuit breaker (39339), which exists precisely to cut the brush motor when the roll jams and which may simply need resetting after someone picked up a cord. Check the brush switch (39346). Only when belt, breaker and switch are all good does the motor become the suspect.

When the motor itself is finished it usually says so: bearing noise that rises with speed, a hot-varnish smell, visible sparking at the brush windows, or carbon dust in the housing. Clear the brush roll of wound hair and string before fitting a new motor, because a jammed roll is what kills them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which machines does this motor fit?

The Tornado CK 14/2 Pro, model 98152, and the Powr-Flite Borelli Dual Pro (PV160-W14-U). The two are built on the same platform under different brands and share the great majority of their parts.

Will it fit a CK 14/1?

No. The 14/1 machines have one motor and drive the brush from it by belt. There is no second motor to replace.

My brush has stopped turning. Is it the motor?

Check three cheaper things first: the poly-V belt B350-2514, the circuit breaker 39339 (it may just need resetting after a jam) and the brush switch 39346. Only when all three are good is the motor the suspect.
