The Male Shoulder Rivet A352-9402 is a genuine Tacony OEM harness fastener shared across Tornado and Powr-Flite backpack vacuums. It is the threaded stud half of the two-part shoulder rivet: a moulded head with a machine thread that passes through the shoulder strap and the machine body and screws into the female half (A352-9401) behind it. Four pairs anchor the harness on a Pac-Vac, and between them they carry the entire weight of a loaded machine on the operator’s shoulders.
Because it is a threaded fastener into a brass insert rather than a rivet you set once, it is also the half that gets damaged. Starting the stud crooked crosses the thread in well under a turn, and from then on the anchor will not clamp: the strap works loose, the harness sits crooked, and the load shifts onto one shoulder. Replace the rivet when the thread is crossed, stripped or galled, when the moulded head is cracked, or when it spins without ever pulling the strap tight. Because the damage is almost always shared between the two halves, fit a new female rivet at the same time.

Fitting the rivet
The male rivet is reference 36 in the Tornado Pac-Vac parts book, pairing with the female rivet at 38. Do one anchor at a time so the harness cannot move on you, and always start the stud by hand — get it running true before a driver goes anywhere near it. Snug it until the strap is clamped and stop there; the moulded head is not meant to be crushed down. While the harness is off, check the other three anchors, the tool belt clips (X1241) and the harness frame (34861), since they all come apart together. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado and Powr-Flite equipment since 1956 and stocks the full Tacony harness range. Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Male Shoulder Rivet (part# A352-9402) do?
It is the threaded stud half of the two-part rivet that anchors the shoulder harness to the machine body. It passes through the harness strap and the body and threads into the female half (A352-9401) on the other side, clamping the strap between them. Four pairs carry the harness on a Pac-Vac.
How do I know if my Male Shoulder Rivet needs replacing?
Look at the thread. If it is crossed, stripped, or galled, the rivet will not pull the harness tight however hard you turn it, and it will take the brass insert in the female half with it. Also replace it if the moulded head is cracked or if it turns freely without ever clamping.
What models is the Male Shoulder Rivet (part# A352-9402) compatible with?
Tornado Pac-Vac 6 Aircomfort 93012 and 93012B, Pac-Vac 10 Aircomfort 93014 and 93014B, and Pac-Vac 6 Roam 93016, 93016B-1 and 93016C-1; and Powr-Flite Comfort Pro backpacks BP6P, BP6S and BP10P plus the Comfort Pro Freedom CPF6P-1C.
Should I replace both halves of the rivet?
Yes, in almost every case. A crossed thread damages the stud and the brass insert together, so fitting a new male rivet into an old female half usually fails again. Order A352-9401 alongside this part when you are rebuilding a shoulder anchor.
