Straight answer: the HX3 is a real step forward on runtime (+10 minutes solo, +8 minutes with the electrobrush on low, per battery), noise (3 dB quieter), and usability (Boost and the runtime display). Weight, bin size, battery capacity, and filtration are unchanged from the HX2. Every HX3 also accepts the AquaTwister wet-mop head — the HX2 cannot.

Comfort Mode
PowerUnit at the base, wand and handle above. The vacuum stands on its own, and Miele states Comfort mode cuts the weight on your wrist by 50% — the configuration for whole-house floor cleaning.
Reach Mode
PowerUnit at the top, near the handle. Keeps the floorhead low and flat for reaching under beds, sofas, and low furniture.
Compact Mode
Wand removed — the PowerUnit becomes a handheld vacuum. Attach the Electro Compact HX-EC 10 for motorized pet-hair pickup on sofas, stairs, pet beds, and car interiors, or use the crevice nozzle, upholstery nozzle, and dust brush.
A park position lets the Triflex stand free-standing during short breaks without leaning it against a wall.
The Electro Compact HX-EC 10 is a small motorized brush that attaches to the PowerUnit in Compact mode. Its powered brushroll pulls embedded pet hair and fibers out of upholstery, car seats, stairs, and carpet where suction alone leaves hair behind. It is the item that separates the Cat & Dog from the other HX3 models — none of the others include it, though it can be bought separately.
MultiFloor XXL SEB 436 Electrobrush with FloorDetect and BrilliantLight
The MultiFloor XXL SEB 436 electrobrush uses FloorDetect to recognize the surface under it and adjust suction power and brushroll speed automatically between carpet and hard floor. Its BrilliantLight LED front light lights up dust and hair along baseboards and under furniture. (The base Triflex HX3 uses the SEB 431, which has no light.)
