It is worth stocking the correct screw rather than reaching into a jar of assorted fasteners, because this one holds the cord strain relief. A screw that is too short does not reach enough thread to resist a hard tug on the cord; one that is too long bottoms out and feels tight while clamping nothing. Either way the failure is silent until the day the cord is pulled and the load goes to the switch terminals instead.
