What the Tornado 98225 vac/pressure hose assembly does

This is the hose run between the machine and the tool, and it carries two circuits at once. The large-bore line takes recovered solution back to the recovery tank under suction; a smaller pressurised line feeds clean solution to the trigger on the tool. Everything on this short sheet is either part of that run or the tool on the end of it.

Callout 1 is the one-inch by ninety-six-inch vacuum hose, and it has an alternate. The factory lists a steel-supported version and a plain version at the same position. The steel support is a helix that stops the hose collapsing under full suction — the usual reason to choose it is that the plain one has been going flat in service, or that the hose is dragged round corners and over thresholds all day. Order one of the two, not both.

Callout 2 has three rows. The solution hose assembly is the primary, and the factory also lists two eight-foot vacuum and pressure hose assemblies, 19639 and 19535, with word-for-word identical descriptions and identical model coverage. We have asked Tornado which supersedes which and have not guessed in the meantime — call us with your serial number before ordering either. Callout 3 is the clear plastic utility tool the machine ships with, and the factory notes its jet as part 31400. Callout 4 is a wire tie, marked Not Shown.

Two conventions in Tornado’s own table are worth knowing before you order. Rows marked * share a callout with the row above them — they are alternates for the same position, not extra parts, so order one of them and not both. Rows marked † are on the factory parts list but carry no bubble on the drawing, so there is nothing to click in the diagram for them.

Tornado 98225 Vac/Pressure Hose Parts – Frequently Asked Questions

Should I order the steel-supported hose or the plain one?

Match what came off your machine, or choose the steel-supported version deliberately if the plain hose has been collapsing under suction. Both are one-inch bore and ninety-six inches long with cuffs, and both fit the same position — callout 1 on this sheet. Order one of the two, never both.

What is the difference between 19639 and 19535?

Nothing that the factory book discloses. Both are listed at callout 2 as “Vacuum/Pressure Hose Assembly 8’”, with identical descriptions and identical model coverage. We have asked Tornado which number supersedes which. Until that is answered, call us at 763-535-0770 with your model and serial number and we will read the correct number off your machine’s own book.

My spotter sounds normal but will not pick up water. What should I check?

The hose, before anything else. A split or porous vacuum line leaks air inwards rather than water outwards, so the motor sounds unchanged while suction at the tool collapses. Pull the hose off and block the machine inlet by hand — strong suction at the inlet and weak suction at the tool puts the fault in the hose or a cuff.

Why is the wire tie on the list but not on the diagram?

Because Tornado’s table marks it Not Shown. It is a real part of the assembly with a quantity of four, but the factory chose not to draw it, so there is no bubble to click. It is marked † in the table above for that reason.
