Genuine Tacony OEM male quick-disconnect terminal (part# 19229) for Tornado MWH-800, Marathon 800 and Marathon 1200 carpet extractors. Call 763-535-0770 to check availability.
A quick-disconnect terminal is what lets a wire be separated from a switch or a motor during service without cutting anything. The male half is the blade. Part number 19229 is the genuine Tacony male Q.D. terminal for the MWH-800, Marathon 800 and Marathon 1200 extractors.

Q.D. terminals have a working life that most people do not think about: every connect and disconnect springs the female half a little wider, and after enough service cycles the joint no longer grips. On a machine that gets stripped for cleaning as often as an extractor does, that matters. A connection that pulls apart with almost no force is finished regardless of how it looks.
The failure mode to watch for is heat rather than an open circuit. A loose blade still makes contact, but over a smaller area, so resistance rises and the joint runs warm. Warm terminals discolour the insulation behind them and eventually anneal the spring in the female half completely. Brown or stiffened insulation immediately behind a terminal is the tell, and it means the joint has been running hot for a while.
Corrosion does the same job more slowly. This machine circulates detergent above live wiring, so moisture reaches terminals that were never meant to be wet. A blade with a dull grey or green film on it is no longer making a low-resistance contact even when it feels tight.
Replace in pairs where you can. A male blade that has been running hot has almost certainly annealed the female half it mates with, and fitting a new blade into a tired receptacle reproduces the fault within months.
Fit with the machine unplugged at the wall. Strip only as much insulation as the crimp barrel covers, use a ratcheting crimp tool sized for the terminal rather than pliers, and do not solder — solder wicks up the strands and the wire then breaks just behind the joint. A film of dielectric grease on the mating faces slows the corrosion that finished the last one.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Tornado machines does the male Q.D. terminal 19229 fit?
It is used on the Tornado 98164 MWH-800 8-gallon self-contained extractor, the 98166 and 98167 20″ Marathon 800, the 98168 12 Gallon Self Contained extractor and the 98168 20″ Marathon 1200 in all series. Call 763-535-0770 with your model number if you are not sure.
How do I know a quick-disconnect terminal has failed?
Two signs. A joint that pulls apart with almost no force has been cycled too many times and no longer grips. Brown or stiffened insulation immediately behind a terminal means it has been running hot, which happens when a loose blade makes contact over a smaller area and resistance rises.
Should I replace both halves of the connection?
Where you can, yes. A male blade that has been running hot has almost certainly annealed the spring in the female half it mates with, so fitting a new blade into a tired receptacle brings the same fault back within months.
