Two inches long. This is the shortest solution hose in the machine — a jumper between two fittings that sit close together — and short is precisely why it is the one that fails first. Part number 32258 is the genuine OEM 3/8 inch O.D. by 2 inch tube.

A long hose absorbs pump pulsation along its length. A two-inch one cannot: every pressure pulse arrives at the barbs with nowhere to go, so the two joints at its ends take the whole of it, thousands of times an hour. That is why this jumper splits at a barb long before the longer runs in the same machine show any sign of age.
Length is not negotiable either. It is short enough that cutting a replacement from a longer coil almost always produces a piece that is a few millimetres wrong, and a jumper that is slightly short pulls its fittings toward each other permanently — which cracks nylon bodies — while one that is slightly long kinks. Buy the made length rather than cutting one.
Inspect it by feel as well as by eye. Squeeze it near each barb: fresh tube is springy, and tube that has hardened from detergent and heat feels dead and takes a moment to recover its shape. Hardened tube will not seal against a barb even when it looks perfect, and it is the reason a joint weeps again a week after being clamped tighter.
Look for the pale detergent stain rather than for wetness. Solution that weeps and dries leaves a mark that is far easier to spot than the drip itself, and on a two-inch jumper the mark is usually right at a clamp.
Fit with both ends cut square — they come that way, so do not trim them — pushed fully onto each barb, with the clamps landing on the barb rather than on bare tube. Check the nylon fittings at each end while the jumper is off: a hose that has been pulling on them for months may have started a crack you will otherwise find next month.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Tornado machines does the 2-inch hose 32258 fit?
It is used on the Tornado 98150 Mini-Marathon 425, 98150-ACE and 98150LM Mini Marathon Lundmark extractors, the 98164 MWH-800, the 98166 and 98167 20″ Marathon 800, the 98168 12 Gallon Self Contained extractor, the 98168 20″ Marathon 1200 in all series and the 98169 20″ Marathon 1200. Call 763-535-0770 if your machine is not listed.
Why does the shortest hose fail first?
Because it cannot absorb pump pulsation. A long hose takes up each pressure pulse along its length; a two-inch jumper has nowhere to put it, so the barbs at its ends take the whole of it thousands of times an hour. That is why it splits at a joint long before the longer runs show any age.
Can I cut a replacement from a longer coil?
It is a false economy at this length. A jumper a few millimetres short pulls its nylon fittings toward each other permanently and cracks them; one slightly long kinks. Buy the made length — the fittings it protects cost several times what the hose does.
