What the Foam 1 does

The foams do two jobs at once. They absorb the airborne noise of a suction motor running at full load, which is why a machine with its foams in good order is noticeably quieter, and they locate the motor so it is not free to drum against the housing. The shapes are specific: a foam in the wrong place leaves a gap somewhere else, and the noise comes out of the gap.
