Nylon Connector QD F 3/8 Tube x 1/4” Thread – 32186Chassis Assembly (Part 1) covers the airflow and hardware side of the Tornado 98166 Marathon 800 frame. The 2-inch by 38-inch steel supported hose (18687) carries recovery air across the chassis to the exhaust hose fitting (19260), held by a hose clamp (14858), while the motor protection sponge (32527) keeps debris out of the vacuum motor intake. The shroud latch bracket (19239) gives the brush head’s latch something to grab, the spring (10841) returns it, and the wing nut (19301) is the tool-free fastener operators reach for most often. The remainder of this section is the fastener set that holds the frame together — the 1/4-20 x 7/8" screw (02053), the #10-24 x 1-1/4" screw (19205), the nyloc nut (03868), the nut (16673) and the washers (03321, 11219, 12957, 14142, 19616, 30075). Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Call 763-535-0770 or stop by 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428.
Tornado 98166 Chassis Assembly Parts List (Part 1)
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Chassis Assembly Part 1 and Part 2 on the 98166?
The manufacturer splits the chassis over two drawings on the Series F machine. Part 1 is the airflow and hardware side — exhaust hose and fitting, latch bracket, motor sponge and the fastener set. Part 2 is the structural side — the chassis itself, axle, wheels, nozzle and mounting brackets. The callout numbers run across both sheets, which is why the numbers on this page are not consecutive.
Why does this parts list skip numbers?
Both chassis sheets share one callout sequence. Part 1 carries numbers 2, 4, 6, 9 through 13, 16, 18, 26, 27 and 31 through 38; the missing numbers appear on Chassis Assembly (Part 2). Nothing is missing from the list — the sequence is simply split between the two drawings.
My 98166 is losing suction at the chassis. What should I look at?
Check the 2-inch by 38-inch steel supported hose (18687) for splits and crushing, then the exhaust hose fitting (19260) and its hose clamp (14858). A collapsed or cracked supported hose is the usual cause, and it is easy to miss because the damage is often on the underside where it rubs.
What does the motor protection sponge do and how often should it be replaced?
The motor protection sponge (32527) filters air entering the vacuum motor and protects it from carryover from the recovery tank. Replace it whenever it is matted, discolored or torn — it is a cheap part and a failed vacuum motor is not.
