Chassis Assembly (Part 2) is the structural half of the Tornado 98166 Marathon 800 frame. The chassis (19241) itself is here, along with the axle (19143), the axle retaining clamp (19144), the external E retaining ring (03470) and the pair of 10-inch wheels (02661) the machine rolls on. The 20-inch nozzle (19168) — which the parts book notes should be ordered with the nozzle hose adapter tube (19197) — mounts to the shroud and nozzle mounting bracket weldment (19155), hinged on a 1/4-inch by 2-inch hinge (19148). The quick-disconnect coupler (PX5) is the solution-side connection point, and the balance of the section is the fastener and spacer set: the 1/2-13 x 1" screw (05441), the 3/8-16 x 1-1/4" screw (19171), the 1/4-20 x 1/2" screws (06192, 19240), the M4 x 16 screw (23192), the lock nut (15092), the nut (19145), the lock washer (01574), the washer (17850) and the spacer (19259). Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Call 763-535-0770 or stop by 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which wheels does the Tornado 98166 Marathon 800 use?

The 98166 rides on 10-inch wheels, part 02661, retained on the axle (19143) by an external E retaining ring (03470) and held to the frame by the axle retaining clamp (19144). The same wheel is also listed on the machine’s Service Parts sheet as a routine wear item.

Do I need to order anything with the 20-inch nozzle?

Yes. The parts book lists the 20-inch nozzle (19168) with the instruction to order it together with the nozzle hose adapter tube (19197), which is itself on the Main Assembly sheet. Ordering the nozzle alone leaves you without the adapter that connects it to the recovery hose.

Why are some chassis callout numbers on a different page?

The Series F chassis is drawn over two sheets that share a single callout sequence. This page carries numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 14, 15, 17, 19 through 25, 28, 29, 30 and 34; the rest are on Chassis Assembly (Part 1).

My machine wobbles or drags on one side. What usually causes that?

Start with the wheels (02661) and the axle retaining clamp (19144) — a loose clamp lets the axle shift, and a worn wheel bore lets it rock. Then check the hinge (19148) and the shroud and nozzle mounting bracket weldment (19155), because a bent bracket drops one side of the nozzle.
