The 15-inch brush head as fitted to the Tornado CV 38, model 91451, straight from the manufacturer’s own breakdown.

Coupling Clutch – K44700220The wear pattern on this head is the usual one. The glide sole, K40715590, is the sacrificial part and goes thin first; the belt set follows; the roller brush loses bristle stiffness long before it looks worn out, and a brush that no longer stands the carpet up is the commonest reason a machine “stops cleaning” while the motor sounds fine.
The coupling clutch, K44700220, is worth knowing about on this machine. Drive reaches the roller through it rather than directly, which is why the belt is sold as a front-and-back set. A clutch that is slipping produces exactly the same symptom as a stretched belt, so check it while the head is open rather than fitting belts twice.
Frequently asked questions
How much of this head is shared with the 12-inch CV 30?
Most of the small parts and none of the width-dependent ones. Fasteners, washers, inserts, the side caps, the adjusting wheel, the foot pedal, the rear wheels, the coupling clutch and the axle shaft are common. The bumper, glide sole, top cover, complete housing, roller brush and belt set are cut for 15 inches and carry their own numbers.
Why does the roller brush here have red bristles when the CV 30 has black?
Because Tornado specifies them that way. The 15-inch CV 38 ships with the stiff red roller, K69066440, and the 12-inch CV 30 with the softer black one, K69066410. Both machines will accept the other kind in their own width if the carpet calls for it — red digs harder into dense loop pile, black is kinder to plush.
Where is the axle shaft on the drawing?
It is not on it. Tornado lists K94121780 as “Not Shown” for this head. The part is real and orderable and appears in the table, but there is no callout to point a dot at, so it has none.
I need the housing. Is the top cover part of it?
No, they are separate parts and separate purchases. K40606980 is the complete bottom housing — the structural shell the whole head is built on. The top cover that sits over it is K50610430 in yellow or K50625580 in black. A cracked cover does not require a new housing; a cracked housing usually means a new cover too, because whatever broke the housing normally took the cover with it.
The rest of the machine is indexed on the Tornado CV 38 parts hub, and the 12-inch head is covered on the Tornado CV 30 brush head parts page.
