The Tornado Spraybar Manifold 1/4″ Aluminum (part# 32187) is the genuine OEM gallery that takes pressurised solution from the pump circuit and distributes it evenly to the spray jets ahead of the brush. It is machined aluminium rather than moulded plastic because it works at 100 PSI with hot detergent running through it all day, and because the jet seats have to stay true — a distorted seat sprays at an angle no amount of cleaning will correct.

  • Tornado 98168 12 Gallon Self Contained Carpet Extractor
  • Tornado 98169 20″ Marathon 1200 Carpet Extractor (12 Gallon 115V)
  • Tornado 98166 20″ Marathon 800 Carpet Extractor (8 Gallon 115V)

  • Tornado 98164 MWH-800 8-Gallon Self-Contained Carpet Extractor

The manifold itself rarely wears out. What brings it into a repair is corrosion or scale inside the gallery, usually on machines run with hard water and no rinse-out routine, and damaged threads at a jet seat from a tip that was cross-threaded or over-tightened. The symptom for the first is spray that is weak across the whole bar even with clean jets and a healthy pump; for the second it is one jet that will not seal no matter how many new tips you fit.

Diagnose in order. Pull and soak the jets first, then check the inline strainer, then the pump — the manifold is the last suspect, not the first, and replacing it will not fix a restriction upstream. If the bar sprays evenly after a jet clean, the manifold is fine.

When you do replace it, relieve pressure, take the old unit off with the jets still in place so you can transfer them in known positions, and fit the new manifold dry — thread sealant belongs on the fittings, not smeared into a gallery where it will end up in a jet. Run the pump and watch every jet before putting the shroud back.

Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956 and stocks the jets and fittings that go with it. Browse every assembly for this machine on the Tornado 98168 Marathon 1200 parts hub, and see the manufacturer’s range at tornadovac.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Spraybar Manifold (part# 32187) do on a Tornado carpet extractor?

It distributes pressurised cleaning solution from the pump circuit evenly across the spray jets ahead of the brush. It is machined aluminium so the jet seats stay true under 100 PSI and hot detergent.

How do I know if my Spraybar Manifold needs replacing?

Two signs point to the manifold rather than the jets: weak spray across the whole bar with clean jets and a healthy pump, which suggests scale inside the gallery; or one jet seat that will not seal however many new tips you fit, which means damaged threads. Clean the jets and check the inline strainer first.
