The main assembly sheet shows how the Tornado 98167 is tied together once the frame, tank and brush housing are in place. Its most important items are the two recovery hoses: the 1-1/2 in. x 42 in. steel-supported hose 31388 with cuffs and the 1-1/2 in. x 64 in. steel-supported hose 18967 with cuffs, which carry recovered solution from the nozzle back to the tank. The nozzle hose adapter tube 19197 is the connection between the 20 in. nozzle and that hose run, and it is the part the Tornado parts book asks you to order alongside nozzle 19168. The shroud pivot bushing 19153 lets the brush shroud swing, located by brass screw 03913 and screw 19207. Electrically, the ring terminal 15955 and the self-adhesive lead retaining clip 10428 keep the motor leads terminated and routed clear of the hoses. This is a short sheet, but a leak or a collapse in either hose here will cost you more water pickup than any other single fault on the machine. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Call 763-535-0770 or stop by 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428.

Tornado 98167 Main Assembly Parts – Frequently Asked Questions
What does the main assembly cover on the Tornado 98167?
It covers the parts that join the major sub-assemblies together: the two steel-supported recovery hoses 31388 and 18967, the nozzle hose adapter tube 19197, the shroud pivot bushing 19153 and the electrical terminations. It is the sheet to look at when something is connected wrongly or leaking between the nozzle and the tank rather than inside one assembly.
My Tornado 98167 is leaving water on the carpet — which hose should I check?
Check the 1-1/2 in. x 64 in. steel-supported hose 18967 and the 1-1/2 in. x 42 in. hose 31388 for splits, collapsed wire reinforcement and loose cuffs, and check the nozzle hose adapter tube 19197 where it joins the nozzle. Any air leak on the recovery side drops vacuum at the nozzle, which shows up as water left behind even though the vacuum motor sounds normal.
What is the difference between hose 31388 and hose 18967?
Both are 1-1/2 in. steel-supported hoses with cuffs, but 31388 is 42 in. long and 18967 is 64 in. long, and they sit in different positions in the recovery run. Order by length rather than by appearance, and if you are unsure which one has failed, measure the hose you are removing before ordering.
What does the shroud pivot bushing 19153 do?
It is the bearing surface the brush shroud pivots on when you tip the shroud up for brush access, held by brass screw 03913 and screw 19207. When the bushing wears, the shroud develops side-to-side play, which lets the shroud sit unevenly on its gasket and leak air. If your shroud rattles or will not seal flat, this is the part to look at first.
How do I order Tornado 98167 main assembly parts or get help identifying one?
