Chassis part 2 is the structural half of the Tornado 98167 frame. The chassis weldment 19241 itself is listed here, along with the axle 19143 and the two 10 in. wheels 02661 that carry the machine, retained by Ext E retaining rings 03470. The shroud and nozzle mounting bracket weldment 19155 carries the 20 in. nozzle 19168, which is ordered together with the nozzle hose adapter tube 19197 shown on the main assembly sheet. The Tornado parts book lists two identical 2 in. x 38 in. steel-supported hoses 18687 for this section, at callouts 18 and 20 — two real positions on the machine, which is why the same part number appears twice in the list below. Only callout 18 is marked on this sheet, so there is one clickable dot for the pair. Recovery plumbing uses hose clamp 14858 and QD coupler PX5, while hinge 19148 and spacers 19259 locate the moving parts. The remaining items are the specific fasteners the Tornado parts book calls out for this machine: screws 02053, 05441, 06192, 19171, 19240 and 23192, lock washer 01574, lock nut 15092, nut 19145 and washers 14142 and 17850. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Call 763-535-0770 or stop by 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428.

Tornado 98167 Chassis Assembly Parts – Frequently Asked Questions

What does chassis part 2 cover on the Tornado 98167?

This sheet covers the frame itself and the parts that bolt straight to it: the chassis weldment 19241, the axle 19143, the 10 in. wheels 02661, the shroud and nozzle mounting bracket 19155 and the 20 in. nozzle 19168. The pump, the latch hardware and the exhaust fitting are on chassis part 1, because the two sheets share one run of callout numbers.

Why does hose 18687 appear twice on the diagram?

Because the machine really does use two of them. The 2 in. x 38 in. steel-supported hose 18687 is shown at callout 18 and again at callout 20, in two different positions on the chassis. They are the same part number, so you order the same hose for either location — and if you are replacing one because it has split or collapsed, it is worth checking the other at the same time.

How do I replace a 10-inch wheel 02661 on the Tornado 98167?

The wheels 02661 are held on the axle 19143 by Ext E retaining rings 03470. Tip the machine back, pop the retaining ring off with a pair of ring pliers, slide the wheel off and reverse the process. Always fit a new retaining ring rather than reusing a stretched one, and replace both wheels together if one has flat-spotted so the machine still tracks straight.

Do I need to order anything with the 20-inch nozzle 19168?

Yes. The Tornado parts book lists nozzle 19168 as ordered with the nozzle hose adapter tube 19197, which is the tube that connects the nozzle to the recovery hose and appears on the main assembly sheet. If you are replacing the nozzle because of poor water pickup, also inspect the 1-1/2 in. x 64 in. steel-supported hose 18967 and its cuffs before you reassemble.

How do I order Tornado 98167 chassis parts or get help identifying one?

You can add any part on this page directly to your cart from its own product page, or call us at 763-535-0770. Our staff at 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428 has been servicing Tornado equipment since 1956 and can confirm the right part against your machine’s serial number before you buy.

The pump, latch hardware and exhaust fitting that mount to this frame are on chassis assembly part 1, and the recovery hoses that run from the nozzle are on the main assembly page. The recovery tank and bladder that sit in this frame are on the tank assembly page, and routine wear items are on the Tornado 98167 service parts page.
