Bladder (8 Gallon) – 19215The tank assembly is where the Tornado 98167 stores clean solution and holds what it recovers. This is a bladder machine: the 8 gallon bladder 19215 holds the clean solution inside the recovery tank X3857, sitting on the lower bladder mounting plate 32179, so the same housing does both jobs. Recovered water enters past the 6 in. clear lid with black ring PX103 and its gasket X9079, is pulled through the intake filter 19097 and leaves up the 16-3/4 in. standpipe 19139, sealed by O-ring 19140 and held by standpipe mounting clamp 19217. Internal and external pipe assemblies 31050 and 31051 complete the plumbing, with the aluminium coupler 32177, inline strainer 32178, nylon stem adapter 32308 and swivel elbow 32189 on the solution side, plus the PVC male adapter 15088 and the 23-1/2 in. hose bellow 16620. The tank sits in a frame built from members 19316, 19317, 19318 and 19220, and the recovery tank is retained by bracket 19272 and ordered together with chassis 19241. Callout numbering in the parts list runs 1 to 22 and then 24 to 38: the drawing does carry a bubble numbered 23, but the Tornado parts book lists no part against it, so that bubble is not linked. Tornado 98167 Tank Assembly Parts – Frequently Asked Questions
How does the tank work on the Tornado 98167?
It is a bladder system. The 8 gallon bladder 19215 sits inside the recovery tank X3857 and holds the clean solution, while recovered water collects in the tank around it. That lets one housing do both jobs, which is why the machine is called self-contained. The intake filter 19097 and standpipe 19139 protect the vacuum motor from the recovered water.
How often should I replace the intake filter 19097 and gasket X9079?
Rinse the intake filter 19097 after every use and replace it when the mesh is torn, distorted or permanently discoloured, since a blocked or damaged filter costs you suction and can let water reach the vacuum motor. Replace gasket X9079 and the clear lid PX103 whenever the lid stops sealing cleanly — a lid that will not hold vacuum is a common and easily missed cause of poor water pickup.
My Tornado 98167 is losing suction — what should I check in the tank?
Work from the lid inwards. Check that the 6 in. clear lid PX103 and gasket X9079 are seating, then the intake filter 19097 for blockage, then the O-ring 19140 at the standpipe 19139 and the standpipe mounting clamp 19217. After that, check the hose bellow 16620 and the internal and external pipe assemblies 31050 and 31051 for cracks. Any air leak in that path drops suction at the nozzle.
Why is there no callout 23 on the tank diagram?
The Tornado parts book numbering for this sheet runs 1 to 22 and then continues at 24, so there is no part 23 on the drawing. That gap is in the book itself, not an omission from this page — every numbered callout the book shows for the Tornado 98167 tank, plus the 15 in. wire tie 18706 at callout 38, is listed in the table above.
How do I order Tornado 98167 tank assembly parts or get help identifying one?
