What is in the Tornado 98167 tank assembly

The recovery tank (X3857, ordered with the chassis 19241) holds what comes off the carpet, sealed by the 6-inch clear lid with black ring (PX103) over a gasket (X9079) and protected by the intake filter (19097). The 16-3/4″ standpipe (19139) with its O-ring (19140) and mounting clamp (19217) is the recovery path, feeding the internal (31050) and external (31051) pipe assemblies. The 8-gallon solution bladder (19215) sits on the lower bladder mounting plate (32179) and feeds the pump through the inline strainer (32178), the aluminium coupler (32177), the nylon stem adapter (32308) and the swivel elbow (32189). Three tank frame members (19316, 19317, 19318) and a 1-1/2″ x 23-1/2″ hose bellow (16620) complete the assembly.

When a Tornado 98167 tank part needs replacing

A machine that loses suction with a clean filter usually has a lid gasket that has taken a set, or a hose bellow that has split where it flexes. Solution that will not spray, with the pump audibly running, is most often a plugged inline strainer rather than a failed pump — check the strainer first, it is the cheapest part in the path. A bladder that will not empty fully is normally sitting off its mounting plate.

My Tornado 98167 is spraying weakly even though the pump runs. What should I check in the tank?

Start with the inline strainer 32178 — it clogs with fibre and chemical residue and is the most common cause of weak spray. Then check the swivel elbow 32189, the stem adapter 32308 and the aluminium coupler 32177 for a weep, since any air drawn in on the suction side of the pump costs pressure at the jets. A bladder 19215 with a split seam will also lose prime.
