Frequently Asked Questions
My vacuum motor is loud or has lost power. What should I check first?
The intake filter and the gaskets, before the motor. A clogged intake filter starves a healthy 3-stage motor and makes it scream; a failed gasket at the lid or the motor mount lets it pull air instead of water. Replace those, and only replace the motor if the noise and the weak lift survive a clean filter and fresh gaskets.
Water is not being picked up even though the motor runs. Why?
Look at the standpipe and the recovery pipe assemblies. A standpipe that has come loose at its mounting clamp, or a cracked internal pipe assembly, short-circuits the airflow so the motor pulls air from inside the tank instead of from the nozzle.
The clear lid will not seal. Do I replace the lid or the gasket?
Almost always the gasket. The 6″ clear lid with black ring rarely warps; the gasket under it flattens and hardens with heat and detergent. Fit a new gasket first — it is the cheap part and it fixes the majority of seal complaints.
What does the inline strainer do and how often should it be replaced?
It catches grit before it reaches the pump and the spray tips. It is not a scheduled-replacement item, but it should be pulled and cleaned whenever spray pressure drops, and replaced if the mesh is torn — a torn strainer sends debris straight into the solenoid valve and the jets.
