Frequently Asked Questions
What does the bladder do on the Tornado 98166 Marathon 800?
The 8-gallon bladder (19215) is the solution reservoir. It sits in the tank on the lower bladder mounting plate (32179) and collapses as solution is drawn out, which is what keeps the clean and recovered water apart in a self-contained extractor. Note that the 98166 takes the 8-gallon bladder; the larger Marathon machines use a different capacity.
My vacuum motor is loud or weak. What should I check before replacing it?
Check the intake filter (19097) and the motor gasket (X9079) first, then the 6-inch clear lid and black ring (PX103) and the standpipe O-ring (19140) for a leak that makes the motor work against false air. A three-stage vacuum motor (X1038) is one of the most expensive parts on the machine, so rule the cheap causes out first.
Water is leaking from under the tank. Where does that usually come from?
Start at the inline strainer (32178) and the aluminum coupler (32177) on the solution side, then the recovery tank external pipe assembly (31051) and the gaskets (06825, 31416). A leak that only appears while the pump runs is on the solution side; one that appears while vacuuming is on the recovery side.
Do I need to order anything with the recovery tank?
The parts book lists the recovery tank (X3857) with the instruction to order it with the chassis (19241), which is on the Chassis Assembly (Part 2) sheet. Check with us before ordering the tank on its own so you are not left waiting on the second half.
