This is the big one. Where the standard 98220 spreads the same machine across eight drawings, the Series D & E book for the deluxe PS8225 puts almost the whole spotter on a single sheet with 53 callouts — both tanks, the vacuum motor, the solution pump and its plumbing, the switch and filter, the wheels, the handle and the fasteners that hold all of it together.
Four callouts on this sheet are what make the machine a Deluxe. Positions 16 and 17 are the solution and recovery tanks. Position 18 is the 55 P.S.I. solution pump, marked 64235 / 98225 only, and position 19 is the vacuum motor. Those two are the whole of the machine’s working end: the motor pulls dirty solution back, the pump pushes clean solution out.
The rest divides along familiar lines. Callouts 8 to 11 and 27 to 31 are the solution plumbing — coupler, clamps, brass elbows, nipple, adapter, filter screen and the hose that feeds it. Callouts 24 and 25 are the shut-off: a float cage that closes the vacuum stack when the recovery tank fills, and the intake screen ahead of it. Callouts 42 to 47 are the vacuum motor’s own gaskets, shroud and mounting brackets, and callouts 46 and 52 are the rocker switch and the RFI filter. Almost everything else is fastener and washer stock, and the quantities in the right-hand column are worth reading — callout 12 alone is used eleven times.
Two conventions in Tornado’s own table are worth knowing before you order. Rows marked * share a callout with the row above them — they are alternates for the same position, not extra parts, so order one of them and not both. Rows marked † are on the factory parts list but carry no bubble on the drawing, so there is nothing to click in the diagram for them.
Tornado 98225 Main Assembly Parts List
Two notes on the factory table. Callout 51 (the power cord assembly) carries the note Not shown in Tornado’s parts list, but the drawing does in fact show a bubble numbered 51 with a leader line running to the cord — so it is clickable here, and we have told Tornado their note is wrong. Callout 53 is the reverse case: the solution hose is on the parts list with no Not shown note, yet there is no bubble numbered 53 anywhere on the sheet. It is marked above for that reason.
Tornado 98225 Main Assembly Parts – Frequently Asked Questions
Which main assembly parts are specific to the deluxe 98225?
Two callouts carry a factory restriction worth knowing. The 55 P.S.I. pump at 18 is marked 64235 / 98225 only, and the power cord at 51 is marked 98225 / 64235 only. Everything else on the sheet is shared with the standard PS Spotter, so a tank, a hose, a screen or the switch can be ordered from either machine’s pages. Read the model number off the plate on the solution tank if you are not sure, or call 763-535-0770.
My spotter sprays weakly but the pump sounds normal. Where should I start?
Work from the cheap end. Check the solution filter screen at callout 30 and the intake screen at 25 for clogging, then the hose at 31 and the brass fittings at 10, 11, 27, 28 and 29 for a loose joint drawing air. A pump that cannot build pressure is the last thing to suspect, not the first — all four of those are far more common and far cheaper.
Why does the parts list show callout 12 eleven times?
Because the quantity column is per machine, not per location. Callout 12 is a #10-24 x 1/2 inch truss-head screw used in eleven places across the assembly, and callout 49 is the same part number again at a twelfth. When you order fasteners off this sheet, order the quantity you are replacing rather than the quantity printed.
Does the Series G parts list for the 98220 work for this machine?
Not reliably. The 98225 has only two books, Series C and Series D & E, and this page is built from the current one. The standard 98220 has run on to Series G and changed some part numbers along the way — its current pump and latch are different numbers from the ones on this sheet. Use the 98225 list for a 98225.
