Motor w/Pulley – 32495The brush assembly is the part of the Tornado 98166 Marathon 800 that does the actual agitation: a 17-inch carpet brush roller (19159) turning on a brush shaft (19160) inside two bearing blocks (19157), driven by a belt (19233) from the brush motor with pulley (32495) through the motor pulley (32175) and brush pulley (19161). Running alongside it is the spray side of the head — the spraybar manifold (32187), the 1/8" MPT 95° nozzle and body (X9139), the swivel elbow (32189) and the nylon quick-disconnect connectors (32186) that feed solution to the carpet just ahead of the brush. The brush shroud assembly (31754), its base plate shroud gasket (19164), the shroud lever latch (19192), the latch lever clamp (19156) and the latch lever cap (19275) hold the whole head together and let you drop it for service. What does the brush assembly do on the Tornado 98166 Marathon 800?
It agitates the carpet pile while the spraybar lays down cleaning solution. The 17-inch carpet brush roller (19159) is belt-driven from the brush motor, and the spraybar manifold (32187) and nozzle and body (X9139) spray immediately ahead of it so the solution is worked into the fibers rather than sitting on top of them.
My brush stopped turning but the motor still runs — what should I check first?
Check the belt (19233) first, then the motor pulley (32175) and brush pulley (19161) set screws, then the two brush bearing blocks (19157) and their bearing seals (19158). A glazed or snapped belt is the most common cause; a seized bearing block is the second.
Can I buy the brush roller already assembled?
Yes. Part 31806 is the Complete Brush Roller Assembly and the parts book lists it as fitting the 98166, 98167, 98168 and 98169. It is shown on this sheet as the assembled alternative to the bare 17-inch roller (19159) plus shaft, bearings and seals.
