It covers the solution tank 19490 itself; the two-stage bypass vacuum motor 14800 with its shroud 19937, mounting brackets 30475, inlet screen X9060 and the matched pair of adhesive-backed gaskets 30456 and 30457 that seal its lower and upper faces; the solution pump FJ5082 on its plate 31471 and brackets 31490; the rocker switch 30472 and the 25-foot power cord 19498 behind the electrical components cover X9542; the six-inch transport wheels 19505 on their spacers 19506; and the brass and nylon fittings, filters and fasteners that make up the solution circuit.
This sheet is the Series G build of the machine. The electrical components cover X9542, its gasket X9571, the pump plate 31471 and the pump mounting brackets 31490 are Series G parts and do not fit the earlier C to F builds — call us at 763-535-0770 with your serial number and we will read the series off it before you order.
The parts list below follows the callout numbers printed on the schematic. Note that the numbering runs 1 to 45 and then jumps to 47: there is no callout 46 on this sheet, in the diagram or in the factory parts table, so this assembly has 46 parts rather than 47. The gap is the factory’s own numbering and nothing is missing from the list.

Why is there no number 46 on the Tornado 98220 solution tank schematic?
Because the factory numbering skips it. The sheet runs 1 to 45 and then 47, and the diagram and Tornado’s own parts table have exactly the same gap — so the assembly has 46 parts, not 47. Nothing has been left out of the list above.
My Tornado 98220 sprays weakly but the pump sounds normal — what should I check?
Work through the solution circuit before suspecting the pump. Check the solution filter screen 19525 and the foam filter X2715, then the tool jet, then the hose 72697A and its fittings for a kink or a split. A restriction anywhere in that chain gives weak or spitting spray with a pump that still sounds completely normal, and all of those parts cost a fraction of the pump.
Which gaskets does the vacuum motor need?
Two, and they are not interchangeable: 30456 seals the bottom face of the motor and 30457 is the black Volara gasket for the top face. Both are adhesive-backed and neither can be reused once it has been lifted, so fit new ones whenever the motor comes out. The inlet screen X9060 sits in the same air path and should be inspected at the same time.
How do I tell whether my 98220 is a Series G machine?
From the serial label on the machine. It matters for four parts on this sheet — the electrical components cover X9542, its gasket X9571, the pump plate 31471 and the pump mounting brackets 31490 — which were introduced with the Series G revision. If your label shows Series C, D, E or F, call us at 763-535-0770 with the serial number and we will identify the correct part.
