My Tempest sweeps unevenly across the width. Where do I start?
Start with the chassis rather than the brush. The rear axle sets the height of the back of the machine and the front caster sets the height of the front, so a bent axle or a seized caster tilts the whole cleaning head and makes the brushroll contact harder on one side. Check those, then check the skirts and their plates for a bend, and only then replace brush components.
Which skirt parts wear out, and how often?
The skirts themselves are the wear parts — one front skirt and two side skirts. There is no fixed interval; the test is contact. With the machine at working height on carpet, each skirt should touch along its full length. Once it has worn back past contact or gone hard and glazed, pick-up drops off. The metal plates and frames behind the skirts are not wear parts and are replaced only after impact damage.
Are all the Tempest washers and nuts the same part?
No, and this is where most wrong orders happen. Tornado lists separate part numbers for the washers at the wheel, the caster, the push handle, the hinge and the battery housing, and separate nuts for the caster, the axle, the strap, the adjustment knob and the baffle plate. Order by part number from the table rather than by description, or call us and we will confirm which one belongs where.
